We are dedicated to promoting inclusion for autistic children and young people by providing targeted advice and specialist training to educational settings, parents and caregivers. We also offer services to a diverse range of organisations in both the public and private sectors to increase autism awareness. Located in Peterborough, we offer both in-person services locally and online services nationally.
My name is Jenny Lowey, and I am the Company Director of IMPACT: Autism Consultancy & Training Ltd. I hold qualifications as a teacher, including a PGCE and a Master's degree in Education with a focus on Autism. My teaching experience spans several specialist schools dedicated to supporting autistic children, and I currently work as a Senior Specialist Teacher for a Local Authority. Please note that due to a potential conflict of interest with my current employment, I will not be able to take on individual casework for parents and schools in Cambridge City and the surrounding areas.
In my current role, I am a trainer for the Autism Education Trust. I possess extensive knowledge and experience in many key interventions, such as the Picture Exchange Communication System, Attention Autism, Intensive Interaction, Social Stories, and Comic Strip Conversations.
I am deeply committed to promoting educational inclusion and have a strong desire to collaborate with educational settings, parents, and caregivers to empower autistic children and young people to flourish. Additionally, I am particularly interested in addressing the identification of autism in girls, as there exists a gender diagnosis gap that often leads to girls being overlooked or misdiagnosed.
On a personal note, I wish to share that I am autistic, having received my diagnosis in 2023. I hope to use my personal experiences to assist children and young people during the diagnostic process or post-diagnosis once it has been provided. Furthermore, I have been a volunteer listener with Samaritans since 2006, during which time I have undertaken various additional responsibilities alongside my listening role, including Deputy Director, Training Lead, and Mentor.
